Which should you choose? If you want the full Battlechips experience at the lowest price, Standard gives you every bit of the game. If you'll be playing often, gifting it, or using it with a group, Deluxe is worth the small step up — the boards and tokens keep the table tidy and give the game real presence. 

Battlechips is designed for ages 10 and up. It asks a little more of players than a typical kids' game: some basic arithmetic (counting energy, calculating attack damage) and a good dose of strategic thinking, since the best moves come from planning several cards ahead. Games run 30–120 minutes, so it also rewards a longer attention span.

That "and up" is real. Battlechips is the advanced game in the series, and it's just as popular with teenagers, adults and serious board-gamers as with kids — one verified buyer bought it for a grad student, and software developers regularly review it as a game they enjoy. It works equally well for a family evening, a classroom, or a group of adults.

Younger than 10? Start with Potato Pirates: The Original (ages 7+). It teaches the foundations — loops, conditionals and functions — in a faster, simpler game, and it's the natural stepping stone to Battlechips. A confident 8- or 9-year-old who's already played the Original can usually make the jump with an adult alongside.

Each concept is a card your child actually plays, so they learn by using it to win, not by memorising a definition. In Battlechips, the cards are the code. Every move is built from real programming statements — a for loop to repeat an action, an if/else to choose between two moves, a try/catch to recover when a plan fails. The 200-page adventure comic adds solo coding challenges across seven chapters. When your child later meets Python or Scratch, the syntax will be new but the logic will already feel familiar.

We stand behind every game we make. If you're not happy with your purchase for any reason, you can get a full refund within 30 days — and in most cases, you won't even need to send the game back.

How it works:

1. Message us within 30 days of receiving your order and let us know what went wrong — we genuinely want to hear it.
2. Include a short video showing the game and its contents, so we can confirm everything's in its original condition.
3. In most cases you won't need to return the game — keep it, gift it, or pass it on. Once we've reviewed your video, your refund is issued to your original payment method within [5–7 working days].

Good to know: We offer one keep-it refund per customer, and for bundles and Deluxe editions we may ask for a return. If your order arrived damaged or with missing pieces, skip the refund process entirely — just send us a photo and we'll replace it straight away.
